Privacy Statement

Privacy Statement

The Journal of Youth Scientific Research (JYSR) collects only the personal information needed to review, publish, and administer submitted research. This statement explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Account and contact information: names, email addresses, school or institutional affiliation, and country of authors, reviewers, and editors.
  • Submission materials: manuscripts, supplementary files, contribution statements, and mentor or sponsor contact information.
  • Consent records: parent/guardian consent forms for authors under 18, including the parent or guardian's name and contact information.
  • Payment records: whether a fee was paid, covered by a scholarship, or refunded. Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor; JYSR does not receive or store card or bank account numbers.
  • Scholarship applications: if you apply for a publication fee scholarship, the statement of need or proof of eligibility (such as free or reduced-price lunch or Pell Grant eligibility) you provide. It is used only to decide the application, is seen only by the editors handling it, and is deleted once a decision is made.
  • Basic site data: cookies needed to keep you logged in, and anonymized usage statistics (such as article views and downloads).

How we use it

We use this information only to operate the journal: to manage submissions, conduct editorial screening and peer review, communicate with authors, guardians, and reviewers, process fees and scholarship applications, and publish accepted articles. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Who can see it

  • Editors and the referees assigned to a manuscript can see the submission and the information needed to review it.
  • If an article is published, the authors' names, affiliations, and the article itself become public, as is standard for open-access research. Email addresses, ages, consent forms, mentor contact details, and payment records are never published.
  • We may disclose information if required by law.

Authors under 18

Authors must be at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we will delete it. Submissions from authors under 18 require a signed parent/guardian consent form, and a parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's information.

Retention and your choices

We keep submission and account records for as long as needed to operate the journal and maintain the scholarly record. You may ask to see, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. Published articles generally remain public as part of the scholarly record, but we will consider correction or removal requests in line with our editorial policies.
